Mckenna Grace has finished the first season of Carrie on Prime Video, and she saved her biggest praise for the show’s star, Summer H. Howell.
Grace posted her reaction to her Instagram story on Wednesday night, tagging Howell directly. “I just finished Carrie,” she wrote. “@summerhhowell ur a star! Nothings ever looked cooler than u floating down those prom steps! Whole cast was incredible, really cool modern take on one of my favorite stories.”

Follow her at @mckennagraceful. The photo she shared is one of cast member Matthew Lillard’s behind-the-scenes shots from the set, from the Bloody Disgusting post she reshared, and she tagged Lillard, series creator Mike Flanagan and the outlet in the story as well.
Her timing could not have been better. On Thursday, Prime Video renewed Carrie for a second season, just two weeks after the eight-episode first season premiered on October 7 and shot to No. 1 in more than 105 countries. Howell stars as Carrie White, Stephen King’s telekinetic teen, in Flanagan’s adaptation of King’s debut novel. Flanagan has said that from the beginning, the team “imagined a story that goes far beyond the prom.” King, for his part, says what comes next is “bound to be thrilling.”
The shout-out is a peer-to-peer moment between two of the busiest young actresses in the business. Grace and Howell crossed paths at the Newport Beach Film Festival just days ago, and Grace’s own slate includes The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and Netflix’s Scooby-Doo: Origins. If her reaction is any sign, Howell’s Carrie is winning over exactly the audience the series was made for.
