The independent Civil War feature Gettysburg 1863 has officially rounded out its cast as production continues on location. Joining the ensemble is Kayla Anjali (The Pitt), who boards the project alongside several new additions to the lead cast. The film seeks to reexamine the historic battle through an intimate, character-driven lens rather than focusing on spectacle alone.
The new group of actors is led by Shannon Lucio (Prison Break) and Eric Nelsen (1883). In addition to Anjali, other emerging actors joining the lead cast include Hannah Galway (Billy the Kid) and Emma Halleen (American Horror Story), as well as Alfonso Freeman (The Bucket List). These performers join the previously announced lead cast which includes industry veterans Stephen Lang (Avatar), Jake Busey (Stranger Things), and Bruce Boxleitner (Tron).
The story hones in on a local Gettysburg family navigating the chaos of the war, the moral crossroads of the Underground Railroad, and the personal struggles of a Union soldier. By focusing on the human cost of the conflict, the narrative explores the experiences of soldiers, civilians, and leaders caught in this pivotal moment in American history.
Directed by Bo Brinkman, Gettysburg 1863 is filming on location in collaboration with the Gettysburg Film Commission and local historians to ensure historical accuracy. The production is currently underway with a release planned for late 2026.
