Saoirse Ronan’s dark comedy Bad Apples is coming home. Republic Pictures will release the film on digital to buy or rent on Tuesday, November 3, following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and a limited theatrical run that began September 18.

Ronan stars as Maria Spencer, a primary school teacher in Somerset, England, giving everything she has to a class of 10-year-olds. One student, Danny, disrupts all of it. With her job on the line and the boy’s behavior getting worse, Maria makes a run of bad decisions that ends with Danny accidentally locked inside her home. She wants to undo it, but her classroom starts to flourish without him, her colleagues and the parents are delighted, and the way out stops being simple.

Bad Apples is the English-language debut of Swedish director Jonatan Etzler, written by Jess O’Kane and based on Rasmus Lindgren’s novel De Oönskade. Eddie Waller makes his screen debut as Danny, joined by Jacob Anderson, Rakie Ayola, Robert Emms, Sean Gilder, Nia Brown and Kerry Howard. The film is rated R and runs 1 hour and 40 minutes.
