Disney and TikTok announced a new global partnership this morning that will bring fan-created TikTok videos directly into the Disney+ app. The deal will pilot in the United States in the coming months, with additional markets expected to follow, and marks the first agreement of its kind between the two companies.

Under the arrangement, creators who opt into the program will have their short-form videos live simultaneously on TikTok and inside the Verts feed on Disney+, the vertical video tab Disney rolled out earlier this year. The featured clips will draw on characters and stories from across Disney’s portfolio, including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and FX, and TikTok will give participating creators access to assets pulled from hundreds of Disney films and series. Disney says the selection will refresh regularly so subscribers always have something current to discover and discuss.

Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer for The Walt Disney Company, framed the move as a natural extension of how fans already engage with Disney’s stories. “The best storytellers are fans first,” he said, adding that the partnership gives creators a bigger stage for their work while giving Disney+ subscribers more to explore. Dawn Yang, TikTok’s Global Head of Entertainment, echoed that sentiment, noting that creators are central to how films and shows stay part of the cultural conversation long after release.

The two companies will also launch a Disney Creator Ambassador Program alongside the content deal, offering top creators added visibility, rewards and career development opportunities. Neither company has detailed exactly how creators will be chosen for the ambassador track or the standard content pipeline, and questions remain around approval and moderation, music rights, use of actor likenesses, and how much creators are allowed to alter the original material. Monetization terms for creators whose videos incorporate Disney assets have not been made public either.

TikTok backed up the announcement with numbers meant to make the case for embedding creator content into a streaming app. The company said fans posted an average of 6.5 million film and television related videos per day on the platform last year, and that nearly half of viewers who came across entertainment content on TikTok went on to watch the related movie or show on a streaming service or television afterward.

The timing lines up with a broader push Disney has been building toward all year. At CES in January, the company previewed plans to bring short-form video to Disney+ in 2026, describing an experience that would expand across news and entertainment while becoming a more personalized daily habit for subscribers. Verts officially launched on the platform in March as a swipeable feed of short scenes and highlights, letting viewers jump from a clip straight into the full movie or episode. The TikTok deal gives that feed its first major infusion of content made by fans rather than pulled from Disney’s own archives, and it also lands on the same morning as Disney’s Q3 earnings call.
