The iconic comedic duo Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are officially reuniting for a spooky new project that pays homage to the golden age of horror-comedy. The pair announced this week that they will star in and produce an upcoming film titled “Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein.”
The news was revealed during a recent episode of “Good Sports With Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson,” where Mitchell was filling in as a guest host. The project is inspired by the classic monster mash-ups of the 1940s, specifically the legendary “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.”
In this modern reimagining, Thompson and Mitchell will play two delivery drivers who find themselves in over their heads. What should have been a routine drop-off takes a dark turn when they arrive at a mysterious castle and accidentally wake Frankenstein’s monster. The film is described as a high-stakes fight for survival wrapped in the duo’s signature comedic style.
Both actors expressed excitement about returning to their roots while exploring a new genre. Thompson noted that the project is a perfect blend of nostalgia and the unexpected, while Mitchell highlighted that the film will allow them to tap into their natural dynamic in a way that is both funny and scary.
This film marks the latest collaboration for the “All That” alumni, who most recently teamed up for the 2023 sequel “Good Burger 2.” Production for “Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein” is scheduled to begin this summer.
