The era of Mike Wheeler has officially come to an end, and while fans are still drying their eyes over the emotional Stranger Things series finale that dropped this past December, Finn Wolfhard is already looking toward a future filled with melody rather than monsters.
In recent interviews following the release of the final episodes, Wolfhard admitted he was initially nervous about the show’s conclusion. He shared that he feared the finale might face the same kind of backlash as Game of Thrones, but after reading the scripts, he felt confident that the Duffer Brothers had crafted something special. While the finale has sparked plenty of debate online—specifically regarding Eleven’s ambiguous fate and Mike’s optimistic “fantasy” ending for her—Wolfhard has been vocal about his pride in the cast and the ten-year journey they shared.
Now that the bike rides through Hawkins are over, Finn is shifting his primary focus to his first love: music. In a candid conversation with Esquire, he revealed that he currently has “nothing on the books officially” for acting and is intentionally choosing to prioritize his musical career in 2026. He expressed a desire to only take on acting roles that he is “really in love with,” allowing him the freedom to tour and record.
For those who have only known him as the leader of the Hawkins D&D club, Finn’s musical resume is actually quite extensive. He first gained attention in the indie-rock scene with his band Calpurnia before forming the duo The Aubreys with drummer Malcolm Craig. However, 2025 marked his biggest musical milestone yet with the release of his debut solo album, Happy Birthday.
The album, which features tracks like “Choose the Latter” and “Trailers After Dark,” has been praised by critics for its indie-rock sensibilities and emotional maturity. Finn spent much of last year on the “Objection! Tour,” playing sold-out shows across North America and Europe.
Looking ahead, Finn isn’t just playing music; he’s living it. He is currently set to co-write and direct a biopic about the legendary 80s band The Replacements, based on the biography Trouble Boys. He also plans to head back into the studio soon to record new material he has written over the last two years.
While we might miss seeing him on our screens every week, it’s clear that Finn Wolfhard is finding a new kind of magic on stage. Whether he’s touring with his band or crafting his next solo record, the future looks incredibly bright—and loud—for this multi-talented star.
