It was a full-circle moment yesterday morning at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as Taylor Momsen took to the streets of New York to celebrate a major milestone. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Momsen performed her new, reimagined version of “Where Are You Christmas?” for the holiday crowd. It was a nostalgic treat for fans who remember her breakout role as the adorable Cindy Lou Who in the classic film that started it all alongside Jim Carrey.
While I previously covered the official release of this reimagined rock track, seeing it performed live in this setting hit differently. Momsen channeled her inner Cindy Lou, and the performance even featured an appearance by the Grinch himself, cheering her on from the sidelines. It was a perfect blend of her rock evolution and her Hollywood roots.
The performance served as a tribute to the film’s enduring legacy. It is hard to believe it has been two and a half decades since we were first introduced to Ron Howard’s live-action version of Whoville. Momsen’s vocals brought a gritty, emotional depth to the song, proving that while she has grown into a rock icon, she still holds a special connection to the role that defined many of our childhood Christmases. It was easily one of the standout moments of the parade and a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season.
