
Accio, Production! HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Officially Begins Filming
The wands are up and the cameras are rolling! HBO has officially confirmed that production on the highly anticipated new “Harry Potter” television series has commenced today at the iconic Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K. Fans of the Wizarding World can rejoice as a new generation prepares to bring the beloved seven-book series to the small screen for a faithful, season-by-season adaptation.
To mark the occasion, HBO has released a first look at Dominic McLaughlin in character as “The Boy Who Lived,” Harry Potter. The image showcases a young McLaughlin, ready to embark on his journey to Hogwarts.
Joining McLaughlin in the iconic trio are Arabella Stanton as the brilliant Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as the loyal Ron Weasley. The series is set to delve deep into each of J.K. Rowling’s novels, with each book comprising a full season of the show.
HBO has also unveiled a slate of new cast members, including Rory Wilmot as the bumbling but brave Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as the odious Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as the formidable Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as the enigmatic wandmaker Garrick Ollivander.
They join a previously announced cast that features John Lithgow as the wise Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as the stern Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as the complex Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as the gentle giant Rubeus Hagrid.
The series, which is aiming for a 2027 premiere on HBO and HBO Max, promises to be a “faithful adaptation” of the books that captured the hearts of millions worldwide.
