The cast of Jon Favreau’s highly anticipated Disney+ series, centered on the historic character Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, is expanding. In an exclusive from Variety, it has been revealed that comedy icon Amy Sedaris is set to join the series.
Sedaris will join a talented young cast that includes Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Ryder Allen. While Disney is keeping the specific plot of the live-action/animation hybrid series under wraps, sources indicate that Sedaris will portray the mother of Taylor, the character played by Ryder Allen.
This casting marks another exciting collaboration between Sedaris and Jon Favreau. As detailed in the original Variety article, their professional history includes Sedaris’s appearance in the film “Chef,” which Favreau wrote, directed, and starred in. She also lent her voice to a Guinea Fowl in Favreau’s 2019 remake of “The Lion King” and is known to “Star Wars” fans as the beloved mechanic Peli Motto in both “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”
Sedaris is a celebrated actress and comedian, known for co-creating and starring in the cult classic “Strangers with Candy” and the Emmy-nominated sketch series “At Home with Amy Sedaris.” Her extensive credits also include voice work in “BoJack Horseman” and roles in films like “Elf” and “Jennifer’s Body.”
The series brings back to the screen Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a character co-created by Walt Disney and Ubbe Iwerks in 1927. After losing the rights to the character, Disney and Iwerks went on to create Mickey Mouse. The Walt Disney Company successfully reacquired Oswald in 2006. Jon Favreau is serving as writer, director, and executive producer on the new series.
