Kristin Chenoweth’s “Live Like That” Unveiled for The King of Kings

Angel Studios has set the stage for their animated feature The King of Kings with the release of its closing song, “Live Like That,” on March 28. Performed by Emmy and Tony Award-winning artist Kristin Chenoweth, the track—now available with a music video—offers an early taste of the film’s emotional core ahead of its theatrical release on April 11.

The song, written by Chenoweth alongside Kellys Collins, Tim Nichols, and Matt Wynn, and produced by Keith Thomas, carries a message of yearning for childlike faith, tying directly into the film’s unique perspective. Chenoweth shared her enthusiasm, stating, “I am deeply honored to be part of such a significant project. The opportunity to contribute musically to a film that explores the life of Jesus Christ is both a professional and personal milestone. I hope my song can touch the hearts of everyone who watches ‘The King of Kings.’”

For Chenoweth, a veteran of Broadway’s Wicked and TV’s Pushing Daisies, this venture into faith-based cinema is a notable milestone. Known for her powerhouse vocals and mainstream success, she’s also been vocal about her Christian faith throughout her career. Lending her talents to The King of Kings—a film rooted in spiritual storytelling—marks a meaningful alignment of her personal beliefs and professional pursuits. This step could broaden her appeal, reaching beyond her typical audience to connect with the growing faith-based entertainment market, a sector that’s seen hits like The Passion of the Christ and Angel Studios’ Sound of Freedom. Her involvement might not only elevate the film’s profile but also cement her status as a versatile artist capable of crossing genre boundaries, potentially earning her fresh recognition in Hollywood and beyond.

The King of Kings, inspired by Charles Dickens, reimagines the life of Jesus through a child’s eyes and features an all-star voice cast: Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, Mark Hamill, Roman Griffin Davis, Forest Whitaker, Ben Kingsley, and Oscar Isaac. Crafted by Angel Studios—a platform driven by over one million Angel Guild members—the film blends historical depth with modern animation, aiming for wide appeal when it hits theaters in less than two weeks.

Angel Studios executives have high praise for Chenoweth’s contribution. Brandon Purdie, Executive Vice President of Global Theatrical, said, “Kristin’s voice is not just a performance, it’s an experience. Her involvement elevates The King of Kings to an even higher artistic level, ensuring that the film’s message will linger long after the credits roll.” Ryan Svendsen, Head of Music, added, “‘Live Like That’ moved us all to tears the first time we heard it. We cannot wait for the world to hear this beautiful song and the amazing talent of Kristin’s performance, especially when moviegoers experience it in theaters.”

With “Live Like That” now out and The King of Kings nearing its April 11 premiere, Chenoweth’s role could prove to be a defining element, both for the film’s reception and her own career trajectory in the evolving landscape of faith-driven entertainment.
