Tubi Surpasses 97 Million Monthly Users and Sets a New Record with 10 Billion Hours of Streaming

Tubi, Fox Corporation’s free streaming service, is celebrating a massive win. The platform has reached over 97 million monthly active users and logged an incredible 10 billion hours of streaming in just one year. This milestone cements Tubi’s place as a growing force in the ever-expanding streaming world.

Since Fox acquired Tubi in 2020 for $440 million, the platform has skyrocketed in popularity. What once generated $150 million annually is now on track to bring in $1 billion in yearly revenue. At a time when traditional TV networks are losing ground due to cord-cutting, Tubi has become a standout success story for Fox.

While platforms calculate monthly active users (MAUs) differently, there’s no denying Tubi’s reach is expanding. The platform continues to climb Nielsen’s monthly Gauge rankings, surpassing popular services like Max, Peacock, and Paramount+. Tubi is now neck and neck with The Roku Channel as the second most-watched free streaming service, just behind YouTube.

Tubi’s CEO, Anjali Sud, believes the platform’s viewer-first approach is the key to its success. “Tubi’s momentum is growing as audiences increasingly value a premium entertainment experience that is also 100% free, fun and reflective of culture,” Sud said in a press release. “Our strategy is simple yet powerful: put viewers first by offering unique stories from unique storytellers, a vast selection of content to choose from and a delightful experience across devices. We let our viewers guide us and obsess over their engagement, and we are seeing the results.”

The numbers back this up—over 34% of Tubi’s viewers are aged 18-34, and more than half fall into the Millennial or Gen Z category. Most notably, 77% of Tubi’s audience doesn’t have a cable subscription, showing the platform is capturing a new wave of viewers who are fully embracing streaming.

Tubi’s content strategy is another big draw. While it began as a home for library TV shows and movies, the platform now offers an expanding slate of originals. One standout, Sidelined: The QB and Me, broke records as the most-watched title in Tubi’s history during its first week last November. In addition to original programming, Tubi has partnered with independent distributors and even launched Stubios, a fan-driven initiative aimed at creating fresh content.

Unlike other free streaming platforms like Pluto TV, Tubi’s viewers overwhelmingly prefer on-demand content, with 95% of streams being watched this way. This focus on flexibility and user choice makes Tubi a favorite for those who want to watch what they want, when they want.

Tubi’s momentum is undeniable. As the platform continues to grow, it’s clear that its commitment to accessibility, cultural relevance, and viewer engagement is paying off.
