Disney has officially unleashed the first teaser for its upcoming live-action Lilo & Stitch, and it’s already causing waves of excitement among fans. Scheduled to hit theaters on May 23, 2025, the teaser offers a delightful glimpse of Stitch, everyone’s favorite chaotic yet lovable alien, in all his CGI glory.
The 30-second teaser opens on a sunny Hawaiian beach, instantly evoking the warm and nostalgic vibe of the 2002 animated classic. Fans will be thrilled to see Stitch up to his usual antics—this time demolishing a sandcastle that cleverly mimics the Disney castle logo. In true Stitch fashion, the blue alien even breaks the fourth wall, hilariously licking away the film’s release date displayed on-screen.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), the live-action adaptation stars newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo, bringing fresh energy to the role of the spirited Hawaiian girl who befriends Stitch. Joining her are Sydney Agudong as Nani, Lilo’s protective older sister, and Chris Sanders, reprising his iconic role as the voice of Stitch. Fans can also look forward to seeing Zach Galifianakis and Billy Magnussen as Jumba and Pleakley, the eccentric alien duo.
While the teaser doesn’t delve into plot details, it brilliantly sets the tone for a movie that promises to honor the heartwarming themes of family and belonging while introducing fresh surprises. Longtime fans of Lilo & Stitch can expect plenty of nods to the original, while newcomers will find an accessible and heartfelt story to fall in love with.
As anticipation builds for this reimagining of the beloved tale, Disney is sure to reveal more in the coming months. For now, fans can enjoy this sneak peek and relive the magic of Ohana as Stitch brings his quirky chaos to life in a whole new way.
