Pink Slip Returns in the Upcoming Freaky Friday Sequel: What Fans Can Expect

Fans of Disney’s 2003 Freaky Friday are in for a treat as the iconic fictional rock band Pink Slip is set to make a triumphant return in the highly anticipated sequel, Freakier Friday. The original film, starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, introduced audiences to the rebellious energy of Pink Slip, with unforgettable musical moments like the performance of “Take Me Away”. Now, the sequel promises to bring back the band and more.

During the D23 event earlier this year, Jamie Lee Curtis, who reprises her role as Tess Coleman, confirmed the exciting news, saying, “Pink Slip is back, let’s put it that way.” Her co-star Lindsay Lohan, who returns as Anna Coleman, shared her enthusiasm as well, hinting that fans can expect even more music in the new film. “There are more songs in this movie,” Lohan teased, adding to the excitement surrounding the project.

The original members of Pink Slip featured Lohan as Anna alongside Christina Vidal Mitchell (Maddie) and Haley Hudson (Peg). Both Vidal Mitchell and Hudson are confirmed to reprise their roles in the sequel, ensuring the band’s chemistry and spirit remain intact. This reunion promises to deliver the same high-energy performances that made Pink Slip a fan favorite.

The plot of Freakier Friday is set to take a multigenerational approach, with Anna now navigating life as a mother to a teenage daughter. This new angle creates an opportunity to explore themes of legacy and the power of music to bridge generations. It also raises questions about how Pink Slip has evolved over the years and what role the band will play in the next chapter of Anna’s story.

Freakier Friday is scheduled for theatrical release on August 8, 2025. As fans eagerly await its debut, the return of Pink Slip promises to add a nostalgic yet fresh twist to the sequel. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering the band for the first time, the upcoming movie is sure to strike a chord.
