‘The Phantom of the Opera’ to Launch Multi-Year North American Tour in 2025

NOTE: This article is 1 month old and may not include the most recent information.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s celebrated musical The Phantom of the Opera is set to begin a multi-year North American tour starting in November 2025, marking a major return to stages across the United States and Canada. The tour’s premiere at Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre is part of an effort to bring the classic production to new audiences, benefiting from Maryland’s Theatrical Production Tax Credit program.

Directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn with choreography adapted by Chrissie Cartwright, the tour will honor the legacy of the original, directed by Harold Prince. Maria Björnson’s iconic designs will once again transform the stage, preserving the visual impact of the original production. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score, paired with lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe, brings the haunting melodies that have captivated audiences worldwide, promising the same musical richness that helped define modern musical theatre.

Though the production remains rooted in the original work, updates to the staging aim to enhance the experience for contemporary audiences without losing the essence of the story. Both longtime fans and newcomers can anticipate a revitalized take on the relationship between the Phantom and Christine Daaé, with subtle enhancements designed to deepen the storytelling.

The Phantom of the Opera has left an indelible mark on theatre, closing on Broadway only in 2023 after a 35-year run that solidified its place in cultural history. With over 160 million viewers across 47 countries, the musical’s impact has transcended borders, drawing audiences into its haunting narrative and iconic score. This tour represents not just a revival but a continuation of its legacy, inviting new generations to experience its timeless allure.

While additional dates and venues have yet to be confirmed, updates will be available through the official website and major theatre ticketing outlets. Anticipation for the tour is already building on social media, where fans share excitement about seeing the production for the first time or reliving it anew.

As one of the most enduring musicals in history, The Phantom of the Opera continues to celebrate the transformative power of live theatre. This 2025 tour is a tribute to its impact, offering audiences the chance to reconnect with—or discover—the beauty, mystery, and drama of a story that remains as captivating as ever. For fans, both new and returning, the tour promises an immersive experience into the timeless world of Phantom, where the chandelier will rise once more.
