Lindsay Lohan is experiencing a wave of nostalgia as she returns to the Disney studio lot to film “Freaky Friday 2.” In a recent interview with ABC’s “Nightline,” Lohan described the emotional and nostalgic feelings that came with revisiting the iconic studio lot. This is the very place where she filmed not only the popular 2003 version of “Freaky Friday” but also some of her other major hits.
Reflecting on her return, Lohan shared, “I think really for me was when I went onto the Disney lot. And being back on the Disney lot because that’s not just ‘Freaky Friday’ for me. That’s ‘The Parent Trap,’ that’s ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,’ that’s ‘Herbie.’ It’s so many moments for me. So when I got there, I kind of felt like this essence of a little kid again.” Her heartfelt connection to the studio is palpable, as it holds countless memories from her early career.
Lohan also expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I’m so grateful for every moment of it. Every second. I’m going to, like, get emotional. It’s a great experience.” This genuine appreciation highlights how much these experiences mean to her.
In “Freaky Friday 2,” Lohan will reprise her role as Anna Coleman, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, who returns as Tess Coleman. The 2003 film was a huge success, grossing $160 million worldwide. Lohan mentioned how she and Curtis have maintained a strong bond over the years, saying, “Jamie [Lee Curtis] and I have stayed in touch over the years. You know how they say when you have a best friend or someone you’re really close with? You can not see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you never separated.”
The sequel will also feature returning cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. Additionally, new faces like Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons are joining the ensemble, promising an exciting mix of talent.
While Disney has not yet announced a release date for “Freaky Friday 2,” the studio has confirmed that the film will be released theatrically in 2025. The anticipation for this sequel is building, and fans are eager to see Lohan and Curtis back on the big screen together.
