Netflix has announced that Plankton, the antagonist from “SpongeBob SquarePants,” will star in his own movie. The announcement was made during Netflix’s Next on Netflix Animation press drop. The film, titled Plankton: The Movie, is set to be released in 2025.

Plankton: The Movie will focus on Plankton, who operates the Chum Bucket restaurant with his wife and sidekick, Karen, a waterproof computer. In the movie, Plankton’s latest plan for world domination is disrupted, leading to unforeseen challenges.

The movie is directed by Dave Needham. The executive producers are Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller. The story and screenplay are written by Mr. Lawrence, with contributions from Kaz and Chris Viscardi.
