Jenna Ortega recently offered fans an exciting sneak peek from the set of the upcoming “Beetlejuice” sequel, in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. Starring as Astrid, daughter to Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz, Ortega described an upbeat filming environment bursting with creative energy.
Specifically, Ortega spotlighted director Tim Burton, who seemed to be visibly relishing the production process. She states this was “probably the happiest I had ever seen Tim on a set,” signaling the long-awaited sequel has recaptured the irreverent spirit of his original horror comedy classic. The return to practical effects over CGI also hints at a revival of Burton’s signature gothic aesthetic.
As one of the rare Burton sequels, performed by original cast members like Michael Keaton alongside Ortega, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” seems a passion project close to the filmmaker’s heart.
If the glowing on-set atmosphere is any indication, fans are right to anticipate the sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will breathe fresh life into this beloved franchise when the movie arrives September 6!
