Hulu’s latest mystery series “Death and Other Details” promises thrills and suspense galore. Set aboard a lavish Mediterranean cruise ship, the show brings together an eccentric detective and a prime murder suspect in a classic “locked room” scenario. Starring Mandy Patinkin and Violett Beane, this first look teases a voyage filled with deception and drama.

Beane plays Imogene Scott, a young woman who finds herself at the center of a murder investigation on the cruise. The victim, an elite guest, is discovered dead under mysterious circumstances. Surveillance footage places Scott sneaking into his room, making her the prime suspect. She must partner with acclaimed detective Rufus Cotesworth, played by Patinkin, to uncover the truth.

The dynamic between Scott and Cotesworth appears central to the series. Despite her initial disdain for the smug sleuth, Scott must work with Cotesworth as he emphasizes the importance of careful attention to detail. Their tense alliance promises engaging interplay as the mystery unfolds.

The trailer hints at a complex plot wherein nothing is quite as it seems. With a crew harboring secrets and passengers hiding motives, everyone comes under suspicion. As the body count aboard the ship continues to rise, Scott races to clear her name by finding the real killer.

From the elegant 1930s decor to the evocative Mediterranean vistas, the lush setting provides an appealing backdrop. The series seems primed to deliver the thrill of an old-school whodunit blended with contemporary storytelling sensibilities.

Premiering January 16, “Death and Other Details” should captivate mystery lovers with its stylish production design, rich characterizations and labyrinthine storyline. The premise and talented lead actors are sure to draw viewers into the twists and turns of this highly entertaining puzzle-box. With intrigue and deception lurking around every corner, this Hulu original brings high-seas suspense to the small screen.
