Tim Allen first played the iconic role of Santa Clause (Scott Calvin) nearly 30 years ago in the 1994 film The Santa Clause. Now, he’s returned to the red suit for the Disney+ series The Santa Clauses, and it has become a heartwarming family affair. Allen’s real-life 14-year-old daughter, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, joins him in the show playing his on-screen daughter Sandra.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Allen expressed his joy at getting to work with his daughter, calling it “one of those moments that I’ll carry with me forever.” He said seeing her professionalism on set and her dedication to the role made him incredibly proud. Allen’s wife, Jane Hajduk, was also on set frequently to accompany their daughter.
Season 2 of The Santa Clauses sees Calvin training his son to take over the role of Santa while also facing off against a troublemaking “Mad Santa” played by Eric Stonestreet. The storyline allows for funny antics while also exploring the family dynamics of the Calvins. Allen-Dick enjoyed developing her character Sandra’s evolving storyline as a teen struggling with newly emerged magical powers.
For Allen, he is proud of how the writers have expanded the Santa Clause story into an entertaining family show perfect for the holidays. The second season finale airs on Disney+ on December 6. Getting to act alongside his daughter has made reprising this iconic role even more special for Allen nearly 30 years later.
