The trailer for Blumhouse’s new horror thriller “Imaginary” teases a frightening tale of a young girl and her evil imaginary friend. Arriving in theaters on March 8, the film comes from director Jeff Wadlow and stars DeWanda Wise as a woman who becomes concerned about her stepdaughter’s connection to a sinister stuffed bear.
In “Imaginary,” Wise’s character Jessica moves back into her childhood home with her family. Her young stepdaughter Alice, played by Pyper Braun, soon becomes attached to a stuffed bear named Chauncey found in the basement. As Jessica worries about the mysterious bond between Alice and Chauncey, she starts to think this “imaginary” friend might be more than just a toy.
The film explores the terrifying idea that children’s imaginary friends could actually be dangerous entities from the spirit world. What happens when you abandon one of these “friends” and make them upset? That chilling premise is at the core of “Imaginary.”
The stellar cast also includes Tom Payne, Betty Buckley, Taegen Burns, Matthew Sato and Veronica Falcón.
Jeff Wadlow co-wrote the script with Greg Erb and Jason Oremland. In addition to starring, DeWanda Wise serves as an executive producer.
Judging by the thrilling trailer, “Imaginary” looks like another frightful flick from Blumhouse’s repertoire of horror.
