Bella Ramsey is taking on a new dramatic role as a pregnant prisoner in season 2 of the BBC’s gripping jail drama, Time. Newly released first look images offer our first glimpse at Ramsey’s character Kelsey Morgan behind bars.
The photos reveal Ramsey alongside costars Jodie Whittaker as fellow inmate Orla O’Riordan and Tamara Lawrance as Abi Cochrane. Despite their differing backgrounds, the trio seem to bond in captivity, as one photo shows Ramsey and Lawrance attending a group therapy session.
Creator Jimmy McGovern, known for hard-hitting British prison dramas like Accused, Banished, and Moving On, shifts Time’s setting from a men’s to women’s correctional facility. Exploring themes of community and danger in prison, season 2 promises a look at unexpected connections formed.
Upon getting the role, Ramsey expressed excitement about embodying Kelsey, saying they look forward to “experience the world through her perspective.” This marks a gripping new dramatic turn for the young actor after earning acclaim in their starring role as Ellie in the HBO series The Last of Us.
Time season 2 also sees the return of Siobhan Finneran as the prison chaplain Marie-Louise. Newcomer Sophie Willan joins the cast as fellow prisoner Maeve Riley. Showrunner Jimmy McGovern teams up with co-writer Helen Black, while Andrea Harkin directs the series.
Fans eagerly await the new season and Ramsey’s portrayal of pregnant inmate Kelsey Morgan. Time’s shift to a women’s correctional facility promises an even more compelling look at life behind bars.
