Blumhouse’s “The Exorcist” Adds Raphael Sbarge as the Pastor

The upcoming film “The Exorcist” has added Raphael Sbarge to its cast. He will play the role of a pastor. The movie will also star Olivia Marcum, Ann Dowd, Ellen Burstyn, Lidya Jewett, and Leslie Odom Jr. and is a continuation of the 1973 film. The movie was made by a collaboration of Blumhouse, Morgan Creek, Universal, and Peacock and will be in theaters on October 13th.

Jason Blum will produce for Blumhouse while David and James Robinson will produce for Morgan Creek. David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, and Couper Samuelson will be the executive producers. Ryan Turek will be in charge of the project for Blumhouse. The story was written by Peter Sattler with help from David Gordon Green, Scott Teems, and Danny McBride.

The 1973 film “The Exorcist” was a huge success, earning $441 million worldwide. This made it the highest-grossing horror movie for 44 years. It received recognition for its excellence, receiving ten Oscar nominations, including one for Best Actress for Ellen Burstyn. This movie made history as it was the first horror film to ever be nominated for Best Picture.

Raphael Sbarge has been in several TV shows. He had a recurring part in “Gaslit,” a show on Starz led by Sean Penn. He also appeared regularly in “Once Upon a Time” and “Murder in the First,” and had smaller recurring roles in “Law & Order: True Crime,” “The Menendez Brothers,” and “Law and Order: SVU.”
