In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the creators of Wednesday, Al Gough and Miles Millar, discussed their focus on the relationship between Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and Enid (Emma Myers). They explained that they want to explore the friendship between the two characters in every way, and are open to seeing how it develops and evolves. Millar emphasized that the friendship between Wednesday and Enid is a key element of the show, and they are excited to see how it will continue to shape Wednesday’s journey.

Gough and Millar also talked about their desire to depict Wednesday as a strong, self-confident role model for teenage girls. They hope to continue portraying Wednesday as unapologetic about being smart, weird, and literate, and have been gratified to see their daughters and their friends respond positively to the show and its portrayal of Wednesday as a positive force. The creators also mentioned that they are excited to delve deeper into the relationships between the characters, particularly the mother-daughter relationship between Wednesday and Morticia, if Wednesday were to receive a second season.
