Lee Strobel Explores the Power of Faith in The Case for Miracles, Coming to Theaters December 15–18
New York Times bestselling author and journalist Lee Strobel is returning to the big screen this December with The Case for Miracles, a new feature-length documentary distributed by Fathom Entertainment. The film will play in theaters nationwide from December 15 through December 18, inviting audiences to explore one of the most enduring questions in faith: Do miracles still happen today?
Best known for The Case for Christ and The Case for Heaven, Strobel once worked as a legal editor at The Chicago Tribune and was a self-described atheist before his own investigation into the resurrection of Jesus led him to Christianity. His latest film continues his evidence-based approach to faith, taking viewers on an investigative and deeply personal journey into modern-day reports of the miraculous.
Directed by Mani Sandoval, The Case for Miracles blends emotional storytelling with journalistic inquiry. Through interviews with people who claim to have experienced healing and experts who analyze the evidence behind such claims, the film examines whether extraordinary events can withstand critical scrutiny. Among the stories featured are that of Barbara Snyder, who recovered from multiple sclerosis after being given no medical hope, and research conducted in Mozambique that documented cases of restored hearing and sight.
Strobel describes miracles as “the heart of faith” and says the film aims to confront skepticism with honest investigation. “In Scripture, the blind see, the lame walk, and even the dead rise,” Strobel said in a statement. “Remarkably, the evidence shows that the miraculous has not stopped.”
Director Sandoval called the project deeply meaningful, noting that the film’s goal is to make stories of faith feel both credible and human. “Our hope is that audiences leave the theater lighter than when they arrived, carrying with them a renewed sense of possibility,” Sandoval said.
Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt praised the continued collaboration with Strobel and Sandoval Studios, calling the new project a natural follow-up to the team’s earlier theatrical successes The Case for Christ (2017) and The Case for Heaven (2022).
The release of The Case for Miracles comes at a time when studies show a renewed spiritual curiosity among younger audiences, with increasing interest in stories that explore faith and the supernatural. For Strobel, this moment provides a powerful backdrop to examine how belief in the miraculous continues to shape lives today.
The Case for Miracles is a Sandoval Studios production presented by Fathom Entertainment, based on Strobel’s bestselling book of the same name. The film is produced by Mani Sandoval, Gil Sandoval, and Adam Hastings, with a score by Eric Owyoung and cinematography by J.J. Bukowski and Jonathan Cocco.
Tickets go on sale October 31 at FathomEntertainment.com and participating theater box offices.
