Felice Kakaletris Set for Breakout Role, Starring in ‘Rain Reign’ with Paul Rudd and Jeremy Sisto
While the reunion of Clueless co-stars Paul Rudd and Jeremy Sisto after three decades is making headlines, the true heart of the upcoming indie film, Rain Reign, is its rising star, Felice Kakaletris. Based on the bestselling novel by Ann M. Martin (The Baby-Sitters Club), Rain Reign features Kakaletris in the central role of Rose Howard, a 12-year-old neurodivergent girl. The story follows Rose, who is being raised by her volatile single father (Sisto). Her life, which is structured by routines, is thrown into chaos when a superstorm hits her town, and her beloved dog, Rain, goes missing. With the support of her uncle (Rudd), Rose embarks on a courageous journey to find her dog, a quest that will test her resilience and force her to make an impossible choice.
This is a significant moment for Kakaletris, who has been steadily building an impressive resume with roles in series like The Crowded Room and Schmigadoon!, as well as appearances in Evil Lives Here and Annie Live!. Landing the lead in a feature film of this caliber, alongside such established talent, marks a major step forward in her promising career.
The film, which has already wrapped production, is the feature directorial debut for Erika Burke Rossa, who also penned the screenplay. In a statement to Deadline, Rossa shared her vision: “What moved me about Ann’s novel – and inspired me to adapt Rain Reign into a film – was the Howard family’s journey toward breaking cycles of trauma and finding hope in hardship. For me, the story’s heart lies in how, even in our darkest moments, the most profound acts of heroism are often the most quiet acts of kindness.”
The cast is rounded out by Gretchen Mol, Kirsten Fitzgerald, C.J. Wilson, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Jeremy Davidson.
