Maddie Ziegler is having the same Christmas over and over again. Netflix released the first trailer for In a Holidaze on Thursday, and it traps her character, Maelyn Jones, in a holiday time loop at her family’s snowy Utah cabin, where one romantic mistake sends the whole celebration spinning back to the beginning.
Mae arrives home at loose ends, living with her parents and stuck in a job she hates, for what everyone believes will be the family’s last Christmas at the cabin. Her parents, played by Patton Oswalt and Jackie Sandler, have recently divorced, and the cabin is set to be sold. She has spent a year working up the nerve to tell Andrew, played by Graham Phillips, how she really feels, and instead she kisses his brother Theo, played by Elias Kacavas. On the drive away from the cabin she begs the universe to show her what would make her happy, and after a crash she wakes up on the plane to Utah, at the start of the same holiday, with every new disaster sending her back to try again.

Rob Lowe plays Benny, the longtime family friend Mae confides in as the loop begins, and he turns up throughout her repeated Christmases as she works through version after version of the holiday, looking for the one where she finally gets it right.
In a Holidaze is adapted from the 2020 novel by Christina Lauren, the pen name of writing partners Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings, who worked on the screenplay alongside director Tiffany Paulsen. Paulsen is a familiar hand in Netflix’s holiday lineup, whose Holidate starred Emma Roberts, and the ensemble also includes Andrea Anders, Gil Bellows and Meredith Salenger.
The film closes out Netflix’s 2026 Christmas movie slate, following A Dog’s Perfect Christmas on November 4, Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas on November 11 and Guarding Stars on November 18. In a Holidaze premieres on Netflix on December 2.
