Skywalker Hughes has two premieres landing nine days apart this July. The actress who plays Mary Ingalls in Netflix’s coming adaptation of “Little House on the Prairie” also stars in Hallmark Channel’s “Snowbound for the Holidays,” one of four films in the network’s 2026 Christmas in July lineup announced last week. The Hallmark movie premieres Saturday, July 18 at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+.

That comes nine days after “Little House on the Prairie” begins streaming all eight episodes globally on Thursday, July 9, the date Netflix confirmed in March when it also renewed the series for a second season ahead of its premiere. In “Snowbound for the Holidays,” Hughes plays Lilly, the daughter of lodge co-owner Trey Sanderson, played by Marcus Rosner. An ambitious guest services manager, played by Vanessa Lengies, is sent to evaluate the struggling Linden Lodge and finds herself drawn to Rosner’s character, his daughter, and the surrounding community. Kathryn Greenwood, of the Paramount+ comedy “Ghosts,” plays Lengies’ mother and boss.

Hallmark’s Christmas in July event runs from Friday, June 26 through Friday, July 31, with a new original movie premiering every Saturday night for four weeks beginning July 4. “Snowbound for the Holidays” takes the July 18 slot.

There’s a third Hughes project on the horizon too. The trailer dropped Tuesday for “I, Object,” the live-action and animation hybrid from writer-director Andrew Niccol, the “Gattaca” and “The Truman Show” filmmaker. Hughes is part of the cast alongside Karl Urban and Anna Faris, with a voice cast that includes Ethan Hawke, Jemaine Clement, and Rachel Griffiths. Shot in Wellington, New Zealand, the film follows a 10-year-old boy who retreats into a world where everyday objects come alive after his father’s death. It opens in New Zealand cinemas July 23 through Umbrella Entertainment. A U.S. release date has not been announced.

On the Netflix side, the new adaptation comes from showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine and is produced by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content, with Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, and Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls. “We are delighted to renew this beautiful reimagining of ‘Little House on the Prairie’ for a second season ahead of its Netflix debut,” Netflix’s head of U.S. and Canada scripted series Jinny Howe said in a statement.

Both projects land within weeks of each other. “Little House on the Prairie” hits Netflix on July 9, and “Snowbound for the Holidays” premieres on Hallmark Channel on July 18.
