Fans of Young Sheldon have something extra to be thankful for this year, as the spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will bring together familiar faces for a special Thanksgiving episode. In Episode 5, viewers will be treated to a Cooper family reunion, with several beloved characters making their return to the screen.
According to TVLine, the episode will feature Young Sheldon stars Zoe Perry (Mary), Annie Potts (Meemaw), and Raegan Revord (Missy) reprising their roles. Adding to the nostalgia, Craig T. Nelson will also guest-star, returning as Meemaw’s on-again/off-again boyfriend, Dale Ballard.
Annie Potts took to Instagram to tease the upcoming reunion, sharing behind-the-scenes footage of herself with Perry, Revord, and Nelson, alongside spinoff stars Montana Jordan (Georgie), Emily Osment (Mandy), and newcomers Rachel Bay Jones (Audrey), Will Sasso (Jim), Dougie Baldwin (Connor), and Jessie Prez (Ruben). This Thanksgiving-themed episode promises to bring a mix of humor and heartwarming moments, reminding viewers of the strong family ties that have been central to the Young Sheldon universe.
While fans will miss Sheldon’s presence at the Thanksgiving table, as the character is currently attending Caltech, there’s still hope that Iain Armitage could reprise his role in the future. In a recent interview, Armitage expressed his enthusiasm about possibly returning to the spinoff, saying, “I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back out on the job.”
Executive producer Steve Holland also commented on the crossover potential between Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, noting the show’s ability to stand on its own while providing Easter eggs for longtime fans. “We’re always trying to make sure new viewers are invited in,” Holland said. However, with the Cooper family still residing in Medford, Holland teased that more visits from familiar faces could be in store throughout the season.
The spinoff will premiere on CBS on October 17, and if this reunion is any indication, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is set to capture the same heartfelt charm that made Young Sheldon a fan favorite.
