A Legacy of Faith and Community
When Hope Calls, which first aired in 2019, follows the story of sisters Lillian Walsh (Morgan Kohan) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon) in the town of Brookfield, circa 1916. The series centers around the town’s orphanage and its community members who face tremendous challenges while building a faith-filled, hopeful environment in the face of change.
With eight episodes slated for the upcoming season, the show will continue to explore the romance between Lillian and Mountie Gabriel, while introducing new characters who are central to the town’s orphanage, farms, and ranchlands. Viewers will meet Mountie Michael (played by Christopher Russell), a new constable in town, bringing new challenges and stories to the evolving community of Brookfield.
Executive Production Team
The executive production team for Season 2 includes Brad Krevoy, Cara Russell, Lorenzo Nardini, and Amy Krell, with Bradley Walsh directing. Showrunner and writer Alfonso Moreno returns with an original screenplay to continue the story.
A Network Shift and Growing Franchise
Originally airing on the Hallmark Channel, When Hope Calls has found a new home at Great American Family. The series’ first season consisted of 10 episodes, followed by two Christmas specials in 2021 that aired on Great American Family, one of which featured Lori Loughlin’s return to television as Abigail Stanton.
Bill Abbott, President & CEO of Great American Media, spoke about the enduring appeal of Janette Oke’s characters, saying, “We were fortunate early on to understand that Janette Oke’s faith-filled characters had such rich origins that building entertainment universes from this world would present themselves over and over.”
With the show’s growing fanbase and rich storytelling, When Hope Calls continues to expand Janette Oke’s legendary legacy, making it a standout in the family drama genre.
As excitement builds for the new season, fans can look forward to fresh stories, new challenges, and the heartwarming sense of community that has defined When Hope Calls since its inception.
