The Land of Oz theme park, located on Beech Mountain, North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, has announced its plans to host the 2024 Autumn at Oz Festival. The event will celebrate the 85th anniversary of the classic MGM film, “The Wizard of Oz,” and is scheduled to take place over three weekends in September: 6th-8th, 13th-15th, and 20th-22nd. The festival, known as the largest “Wizard of Oz” festival, promises to offer visitors an immersive experience in the world of Oz.

Attendees will have the opportunity to walk the famous Yellow Brick Road and explore recreated settings from the film, such as Gale’s Kansas farm, Aunt Em and Uncle Henry’s home, and the Tornado Storm Cellar. Guests can also interact with beloved characters from the story, including the Scarecrow, TinMan, Cowardly Lion, and the Wicked Witch.

The Land of Oz theme park, situated 5,506 feet above sea level, boasts panoramic views of five states from its Over the Rainbow Observation Deck. Visitors can opt to reach Oz by chairlift, taking in the scenic views of North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee. The festival will also feature a variety of food and craft vendors, official Land of Oz souvenirs, Wizard of Oz memorabilia, and face painting.

Tickets for the 2024 Autumn at Oz Festival are expected to go on sale during the summer. The event’s timing coincides with the anticipated release of the film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked,” starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Jeff Goldblum, as well as the return of “The Wiz” to Broadway after a 40-year absence.

The Autumn at Oz Festival presents an opportunity for fans of “The Wizard of Oz” and those new to the story to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the iconic film. Visitors can expect to be transported into the magical world of Oz and experience the wonder and adventure associated with this beloved tale.
