Today, fans were treated to a fresh trailer for Disney+‘s The Santa Clauses, revealing an intense showdown in the second season between Tim Allen’s Scott Calvin and a blast from the past, played by Eric Stonestreet. As the series readies for its two-episode premiere on November 8th, viewers got a glimpse of the enigmatic Magnus Anta, the Mad Santa. Stonestreet, taking on the role of this 14th-century North Pole ruler, is back with a vengeance, determined to reclaim his title and challenge Calvin’s leadership. With lines like “Revenge will be swift — and sweet. I am Santa, after all,” the trailer promises an epic North Pole clash.
But it’s not all about Santa rivalry. The trailer also introduced a curious futuristic element. Elizabeth Mitchell’s Mrs. Claus brandishes a weapon with the intriguing name “Santa Blaster”. Tim Allen’s character doesn’t hide his apprehension, commenting on the oddity of having such a high-tech weapon in the heart of the North Pole.
The upcoming season will further explore Scott Calvin’s journey as he mentors his son, Cal, played by Austin Kane. After the challenges of the first season, Calvin is on a quest to find the perfect successor to the Santa role. The show features a star-studded cast, including Elizabeth Allen-Dick, Devin Bright, and Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias. And for a special treat, Tracy Morgan makes an appearance as the quirky Easter Bunny.
Behind the scenes, the series is steered by a commendable team of executive producers, such as Allen, Jack Burditt, and Kevin Hench, to name a few. For those who have followed the franchise, The Santa Clauses beautifully extends the cinematic world that started with The Santa Clause in 1994. The most recent addition before the series was The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006. It’s also worth noting that Stonestreet is not new to the spotlight, having won an Emmy for his role as Cameron Tucker in the hit ABC comedy, Modern Family, which concluded its 11-season run in 2020.
Lastly, the trailer brought delightful news for many fans. Matilda Lawler is back as the head elf, Betty. Lawler’s performance in the first season resonated with many, and her return is eagerly awaited in the upcoming episodes.
