Universal Pictures has released the first official posters for the upcoming horror film ‘The Exorcist: Believer,’ giving fans a frightening preview of the demonic transformations of the lead characters.
The freshly debuted posters feature young actors Lidya Jewett and Olivia Marcum in full demonic makeup, turning them into terrifying visions straight from a nightmare. Their sinister appearances call back to Linda Blair’s iconic possessed character in the 1973 original ‘The Exorcist.’
In the new film’s story, the characters become possessed after getting lost in the woods. At first they seem unchanged, but it soon becomes clear dark forces have taken hold as strange occurrences begin.
‘The Exorcist: Believer’ marks the return of the classic horror franchise, with David Gordon Green of the recent ‘Halloween’ reboot serving as director. The cast includes Leslie Odom Jr. and Jennifer Nettles as the concerned parents, along with Ellen Burstyn reprising her role from the first ‘The Exorcist’ film.
Early footage screened at CinemaCon earned rave reviews for its sheer scare factor. The chilling posters cement anticipation for what looks to be one of the year’s most intense horror experiences when it hits theaters this October 13.
