NOTE: This article is 8 months old and may not include the most recent information.

Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ recent performance at the 2023 Brit Awards has drawn over 100 complaints to the UK’s broadcasting regulator, Offcom. The pair’s set featured an industrial set with flying sparks and mechanic’s outfits worn by both performers and their dancers, taking a more literal approach to the “Body Shop” metaphor from the song’s lyrics. While it is unclear which parts of the performance received the most backlash, the majority of the complaints were directed towards Smith and Petras.

Some viewers and politicians criticized the use of “satanic” imagery during a recent Grammy performance. which some people found offensive or inappropriate.

While some may criticize Smith and Petras’ use of imagery or metaphors, it is undeniable that their talent and creativity continue to captivate audiences worldwide. Despite the backlash, the duo’s performances continue to spark conversation and challenge societal norms.

It is important to note that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and views on the matter, and that it is up to each individual to form their own thoughts on the performances.
