NOTE: This article is 1 month old and may not include the most recent information.

David Foster’s long-awaited Betty Boop Musical is finally coming to life, with a pre-Broadway premiere scheduled for the end of the year in Chicago. The show, titled BOOP!, has been in the works for over a decade and promises to be an exciting and colorful experience for audiences of all ages.

David Foster, a 16-time Grammy-winning songwriter and producer, has written the music for the show, while Tony nominee Susan Birkenhead penned the lyrics. Tony-winning playwright Bob Martin created the book, and Tony-winning director Jerry Mitchell is set to direct the production.

In BOOP!, audiences will be transported into Betty Boop’s world, where a chance day off from her superstar life leads to an adventure in New York City filled with love, color, and music. The show is sure to be a delight for fans of the iconic character and a fun introduction for those who are new to her.

Casting for the Broadway show has yet to be announced, but fans of the production were treated to a preview of the show a few years ago when David Foster’s wife, Katharine McPhee, performed “Something to Shout About” from the musical. The video of her performance can be found below and gives a taste of what audiences can expect from the full show.

BOOP! is scheduled to run from November 19, 2023, to December 31, 2023, at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago. The limited six-week engagement is sure to be in high demand, so fans of the show should get their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
