The film “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” has been out in theaters since last month and there is considerable talk about Jessica Chastain being a contender for top awards for her portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker. One thing that might be overlooked however is the singing ability of Chastain who performs a few of the iconic gospel songs from Tammy Faye. One such track is a moving slowed-down rendition of “Don’t Give Up (On The Brink of a Miracle) which has been a longtime favorite of Tammy Faye fans. The version above is different than the one in the movie scene when Chastain is singing in Tammy’s voice. We get to hear Jessica’s real voice and it’s fantastic.
The film details the ups and downs of popular evangelist Jim Bakker and his wife Tammy Faye who find themselves the center of controversy in the late 80s after building an evangelical Christian empire.
