Dolly Parton Reunites Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on New Cover of “Let It Be”

NOTE: This article is 1 month old and may not include the most recent information.

Dolly Parton has brought together the two surviving members of The Beatles for a new cover of the band’s classic song “Let It Be.” The track appears on Parton’s upcoming album Rockstar, due out November 17.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the only living Beatles, join Parton on the new recording. McCartney wrote “Let It Be” in 1969 during the tense final days of the legendary rock band. The song was inspired by a dream he had about his late mother and became the title track of The Beatles’ final studio album in 1970.

“Let It Be” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is considered one of The Beatles’ most iconic songs. Dolly Parton’s rendition stays faithful to the original, with McCartney and Starr contributing backing vocals and instrumentation. Guitarist Peter Frampton and Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood also appear on the track.

Parton’s Rockstar album features the country icon covering classic rock songs with special guests. Collaborators include Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Pink, and more. Parton was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year, though she initially declined the nomination feeling undeserving of the rock honor. However, the nomination inspired her to record this album.

McCartney and Starr last performed together in 2019 at a concert in Los Angeles. This marks the first new recording the Beatles duo have made together since a cover of “Grow Old With Me” in 2019. Their collaboration with Parton bridges the gap between classic rock and country, two quintessentially American genres.

Parton breathes new life into “Let It Be” with her signature vocals while staying true to the spirit of The Beatles’ beloved original. It’s a historic crossover between music legends that fans will treasure. Rockstar is shaping up to be one of Parton’s most ambitious and star-studded albums yet.
