It’s only been three episodes and HBO’s “The Last of Us” has already made its mark as one of the best video game adaptations of all time. The intense hype surrounding the show has even earned it a second season renewal, much to the delight of fans everywhere. As we eagerly await episode 4, which airs this Sunday at 9 PM ET, we can’t help but speculate about what’s to come in season 2.

Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, recently spoke about the prospects of the next season on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. Based on the second installment of the video game series by Naughty Dog, season 2 is expected to delve into the events of “The Last of Us Part II.” When asked about their excitement for the next season, Ramsey shared, “I’m really excited for the Ellie Dina story. I’ve watched a cut together of just the gameplay, Ellie and Dina’s love story, and it’s amazing. So I’m excited to play that out.”

The death of Tess (Anna Torv) in episode 2 leaves Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie with only each other, and Ramsey speaks to the complexity of their relationship in the next season. “The complexity of her relationship with Joel becomes more complex and I’m looking forward to exploring that,” they said. “The violence that ensues is thrilling in a way, and it will be cool to explore that in a safe environment. However, I am nervous about it too. I know what happens in the second game and I’m nervous about potentially not having Pedro for a while. It’s going to be really sad.”

It seems that for a portion of season 2, Joel and Ellie will become separated from each other, leaving the show to focus more on Ellie and how she gets by in the wilderness. Fans of the games will also be excited to see the addition of Dina to the show and the development of her relationship with Ellie, given how well the series has handled emotional scenes so far.
