Freddie Prinze Jr. Joins Cast Of “Punky Brewster” Revival For Upcoming NBC Streaming Service

The cast is coming together for the upcoming highly-anticipated sequel to NBC’s 1980s hit “Punky Brewster”. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Freddie Prinze jr. will be joining the cast in a recurring role opposite original series star Soleil Moon Frye. The upcoming revival of Punky will stream on NBC’s upcoming PEACOCK platform.
Punky Brewster will be a multicamera/hybrid continuation of the 1980s original, which starred Frye as a girl who was abandoned by her parents and eventually adopted by the manager of the building where she was staying in a vacant apartment. The sequel finds Punky as a single mother of three trying to put her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a girl who reminds Punky of her younger self.
