Disney has released a featurette with the cast of the highly-anticipated “Mary Poppins Returns” set to hit theaters in December. The video includes interviews with Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Meryl Streep discussing the expectations that come with doing a sequel to a beloved Disney classic.

The producers are John DeLuca, p.g.a., Rob Marshall, p.g.a. and Marc Platt, p.g.a. with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer. The music score is by Marc Shaiman and the film features all new original songs with music by Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. The film also stars Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and introducing Joel Dawson as the Banks’ children, with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes, Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.

Disney has released the first two songs from “Mary Poppins Returns” and you can listen to them right here! The sequel to the beloved film is set in 1930s Depression-era London. In the story, Michael and Jane are now grown up, with Michael, his three children, and their housekeeper, Ellen living on Cherry Tree Lane.

Keeping in the tradition of the original film the songs and score stay true to the sound that made the first film so iconic while introducing new and memorable songs for the all-new musical which continues the story of the magical nanny who once again brings light back into the lives of the Banks family.

Disney has released a clip from the upcoming film “Mary Poppins Returns” where we see the magical nanny returns to the Banks’ residence. As she enters the doorway we experience serious nostalgia feels as the iconic “Spoon Full of Sugar” softly plays in the background of the emotional scene. We even hear Mary (played by Emily Blunt) make reference to a line from the original film at Michael. Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns” will be in theaters December 19.

Hear Emily Blunt Sing In New Teaser For Mary Poppins Returns

Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) returns to the Banks’ home in Disney’s original musical, MARY POPPINS RETURNS, a sequel to the 1964 MARY POPPINS which takes audiences on an entirely new adventure with the practically perfect nanny and the Banks family.

In a new teaser for Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns which was aired during Dancing With The Stars on Monday night we got a chance to hear more of Emily Blunt sing a new song from the upcoming sequel to the Disney classic.

Mary Poppins Returns will arrive in theaters just in time for Christmas on December 19. While the details about the film have been a guarded secret those select few who have been fortunate enough to see advance screenings (and sign non disclosure agreements) have verified that the film will live up to the hype and is everything you’d expect and stays true to the look and feel of the original and fans who grew up watching it will be very happy with the sequel.
