Julianne Hough has been cast as the character of Jolene as part of the upcoming anthology series currently in development at Netflix as first reported by TVline. As Trevor Decker News previously reported Parton’s anthology series will consist of eight episodes each a different story based on an iconic Dolly Parton song.
In the “Jolene” version, Hough will play a free spirit with big dreams to leave her small town. Parton will act as the owner of a local country bar where Hough’s Jolene is a waitress.
The anthology series is produced by Warner Brothers the same team behind the successful “Coat of Many Colors” TV movie and it’s Christmas sequel that was produced for NBC.
Other songs being adapted into episodes for the series include a faith-based story based on the inspirational hit “The Seeker”.
