Ellen Speaks Out About Trump Lifting Elephant Trophy Ban & Launches #BeKindToElephants Campaign

Published

on

Ellen DeGeneres is not happy about President Trump’s decision to lift a ban on elephant trophies that was put in place during the Obama administration. Speaking on her show this week, Ellen passionately shared how elephants are proven to be intelligent animals and why we all should learn more about the creatures. Ellen is encouraging people who are upset by the actions of the president to voice their opinions on social media with a new hashtag campaign.

“So basically by lifting this ban, he’s encouraging Americans to kill elephants,” said DeGeneres. “I love elephants, and if you take the time to learn about elephants, you would love elephants too. … They are excellent at learning abilities, all the things I have yet to see in this president.”

Through her social media campaign, DeGeneres said she would donate money to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a nonprofit that benefits African elephants.

Following the President’s decision to allow hunters to bring “trophy” elephants into the U.S., Ellen stood up for the majestic creatures and called on viewers to help her raise awareness for her cause using #BeKindtoElephants on social media. For everyone who reposts or retweets her photo, we’ll make a donation to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.”
