“The Fosters” Is Ending But The Story Isn’t Over

On January 2nd it was officially announced that the critically acclaimed drama The Fosters would be coming to an end after five seasons.

Since its inception in 2013, the show tackled topics that most were afraid to talk about.. Immigration, same-sex marriage, corruption in the foster system, and discrimination against the black community just to name a few.

What made this show so beloved is its authenticity. Every week its viewers felt like they were apart of The Fosters family. Their struggles were our struggles and we all had someone we connected with.

Although this chapter may be coming to a close it doesn’t mean the story is over. With ends comes new beginnings and that’s exactly what we’re getting with the spin-off (Title TBA) starring Maia Mitchell (Callie) and Cierra Rameriz (Mariana)

According to show producer Peter Paige the 13 part series will follow the sisters many years into the future as they begin their lives in LA. Mariana will be focusing on her STEM career while Callie will be working in social work (no surprise there) Other family members will be making cameos throughout the show.

Maia Mitchell and Hayden Byerly (Jude) took to Instagram expressing their gratitude for the show and its fans

Dear Fosters fans, there's a lot I want to say so bear with me. Firstly, I want to say thank you. I am so proud of our show and the stories we've been able to tell and the people we've been able to touch, but none of that is possible without your full hearted support. Your loyalty means the world to all of us at The Fosters and we are truly grateful to every single one of you. Sometimes great things come to an end, but to have achieved five seasons and over one hundred episodes with the most supportive, loving, talented and professional cast and crew is more than I could have dreamed of and for that I am so grateful. This show and its fans have become home to me so it's a truly bitter-sweet moment. Moving forward, I am especially grateful to @freeform for their commitment to keep the characters and the spirit of the show alive. It's with a full heart that I start a new chapter with my on and off screen sister, @cierraramirez. We're excited to see where Callie and Mariana take us next… 👯💕

Writing is my passion. Sometimes I don't have a filter when it comes to options but most people say that's a good think so yay! When I get into TV shows I become super invested. I'm like a fan girl that loves to ship things but I promise there is a logic behind my madness. TV shows I enjoy watching range from Big Brother, to the fosters or Faking it to law and order svu. Bottom line if it's interesting with some drama then it's for me. If you like honest opinions and a good laugh then I think you'll like what I have to stay.
