My dear friend and production partner, Dolly Parton, has been on a North American Concert Tour since early summer.  Her sold out engagements have been a tribute to her status as a true American Icon!  My family and many friends from coast to coast have experienced her incredible shows filled with her talent, her faith, her hits and her heart!  Last night’s Dolly Concert at the classic Hollywood Bowl was sold out, and adoring fans poured into the iconic outdoor venue to pay homage to the Queen of Country Music.  We took our grandson Sam Haskell V to see his Aunt Dolly.  Sam is three years old and this was his first concert.  Dolly and little Sam have a very special relationship.  Dolly greeted my family and friends backstage before the show.  Little Sam ran into her arms and asked her to sing his favorite “Aunt Dolly Song” – Apple Jack.  Well, not only did she sing it for him, but she dedicated the song to him from the stage.  Little Sam danced and clapped along in our garden box, singing every lyric to those around us, including Katy Perry, Henry Winkler, Jon Cryer and the child actors from our two NBC/WB Coat Of Many Colors movies including Alyvia Alyn Lind who plays little Dolly!  Young and old were mesmerized by her three hour concert including selections from her new #1 Album Pure and Simple, and her classic hits including Jolene, Coat Of Many Colors, The Seeker, Little Sparrow and I Will Always Love You.  Dolly Parton’s gift to her audience is her talent and her heart.  Her audience’s gift to Dolly is her incredible success!
Editor’s Note: Sam Haskell serves as producer for the NBC television movie”Coat of Many Colors” and it’s follow-up “Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love” airing this November on NBC.
