Yesterday in Minnesota it was national We day (women empowerment day) and one of the speakers of the event was 14 year old Girl Meets World star Rowan Blanchard.
Blanchard has always been open about her active role as a feminist and yesterday was no different when she delivered an empowering speech. The speech started off with flashes of pictures of women and men of all backgrounds followed by the words “this is what a feminist looks like” she continued by saying one of the biggest misconceptions of feminism is that it’s exclusive to men when in fact the literal definition of feminism is the belief of the social, political and ethical equality of the sexes”
She also discussed gender stereotypes like women having to dress a certain way or men not being able to cry without being named called for it. She says feminism is for all regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation.
She concluded by reminding us not to put ourselves or others in boxes to be checked off.
