The American Idol revival will start off airing two nights a week, ABC officially confirmed in a midseason schedule released at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

As previously announced, the revived singing competition will premiere Sunday, March 11, airing from 8 to 10 pm ET, where it will lead into Deception (a new drama in which a master illusionist helps the NYPD solve crimes).

Idol will also air Mondays from 8 to 10 pm, for seven weeks starting March 12. On April 30, Dancing With the Stars‘ All-Athletes Edition takes over the two-hour Monday block, while Idol will continue to air on Sundays.

Fox and its theatrical sibling 20th Century Fox are teaming for the 2 1/2-minute live Greatest Showman trailer in a new twist on efforts to get viewers to watch commercials. The network said it will feature a 360-degree shoot and more than 150 dancers and that filming will take place adjacent to the A Christmas Story Live! stages at the Warner Bros Studios in Burbank.

“As we continue to drive innovation in both our programming and ad products, we are thrilled to be working in partnership with our sister film studio in this exciting live holiday event,” said Suzanne Sullivan, EVP Entertainment Ad Sales at Fox Networks Group. “We can’t wait to watch as Hugh, Zac [Ebron], Zendaya and Keala [Settle] make history and unwrap the first-ever live theatrical commercial on Fox’s air.”

Added Michelle Marks, SVP Marketing and Global Media Promotions at 20th Century Fox Film: “This first-ever live commercial for a feature film is one that P.T. Barnum would be proud of and one that I hope paves the way for future titles.”

FOX has released new teasers for it’s upcoming live presentation of A Christmas Story. The live broadcast will air on December 17.

A Christmas Story Live is inspired by the holiday classic feature “A Christmas Story” and the Tony Award-nominated Broadway production “A Christmas Story: The Musical.”

ABC has set the premiere date for its revival of American Idol. As expected, the singing competition series will air on Sundays, premiering March 11, with the Oscars telecast the previous Sunday serving as a launching pad. With Ryan Seacrest as host and judge Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, the new iteration of Idol will air Sundays in the 8-10 PM EDT timeslot. Seacrest announced the date this morning on Live With Kelly and Ryan.

Auditions began in August, covering 23 cities across the country for its next big superstar. Hopefuls also could submit audition videos online as well as select social media platforms, as well as a live stream platform.

Fox has found its Ralphie Parker. After a nationwide digital casting call, 11-year-old Andy Walken, from Seattle, WA, has been cast as the lead character in A Christmas Story Live! The live musical event is set to air Sunday, December 17, 7:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on Fox.

Walken was chosen out of 350 applicants for the role, described as a boy whose only dream is to get a Red Ryder Range Model Carbine Action BB Gun for Christmas. You can watch a video of Walken finding out he got the role below.

Walken joins previously announced Maya Rudolph, who will star as Ralphie’s mother; and Matthew Broderick, who will star as the narrator.

Marc Platt (Grease: Live, La La Land) and Adam Siegel (Grease: Live) will executive-produce, with Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary (Grease: Live) serving as co-executive producers and writers.
